RENEWABLE • SUSTAINABLE • RESPONSIBLE
The best of British multi-purpose fuel logs
Hotmax fuel logs create the warm heartbeat of your home in woodburners or multi-fuel stoves large and small. They give you a safe and spark free hand-and-heart-warming living flame outside in firepits, chimineas and braziers. And their completely natural, odourless heat makes them the ideal cooking fuel for your bbq or ceramic grill.
Crucially, as we all face up to the need to reduce our carbon footprint, Hotmax fuel logs also offer you an unbeatably sustainable British alternative to energy-greedy imported briquettes or kiln-dried hardwood logs – packaged in a recyclable, burnable or compostable paper sack.
EASY TO LIGHT • CLEAN TO HANDLE • HIGH HEAT FAST
How to get the best out of Hotmax…
Hotmax fuel logs are very easy to light without the use of firelighters or kindling. We recommend that you start your fire with a few of the thinnest disks of Hotmax in your bag. You can create thin disks by breaking or chopping slices off a bigger log.
Arrange two or three thin disks in a ‘tent’ over a couple of screws of dry paper and light the paper. You could use strips of paper from the bag. The paper is 100% natural and safe, and the ink is water-based and completely non-toxic. Then just add more logs steadily to build your fire.
Don’t forget that Hotmax fuel logs generate very high levels of heat very quickly, so in a woodburner or open fire indoors start with just a few logs until you’re familiar with its performance.

FAQ’s
Your Questions Answered
Do you have any questions about Hotmax and how it is made?
We’ve tried to answer the most commonly asked ones here.
How is Hotmax made?
Hotmax is made from compacted, natural, unadulterated, recycled softwood dust and particles. There are no additives in Hotmax whatsoever. All the timber we use in our production processes is sourced from sustainably managed British forestry.
What is 'WoodSure Ready To Burn' and why is it important?
The “Ready to Burn” label shows logs are ready for use as wood fuel. These logs burn more efficiently than unseasoned, green wood and reduce environmental impact.
Ready to Burn firewood has a moisture content of 20% or less; using it in place of wet wood fuel is proven to reduce the levels of emissions in the air we breathe. This is better for your appliance and chimney and reduces maintenance and fuel costs.
Why use Hotmax rather than kiln dried logs or seasoned wood?

Hotmax Fuel Logs v Kiln Dried Hardwood
Seasoned or kiln dried hardwood logs are the most widely used form of solid carbon fuel in Britain today. But Hotmax fuel logs beat even the best hardwood logs in all the key measurements of moisture content and energy output. And with legislation on emissions and pollution growing rapidly more stringent, Hotmax wins hands down in the increasingly vital area of environmental impact.
Hotmax is far more eco-friendly than kiln dried hardwood – or most other briquettes, for that matter. It performs better and more consistently, it’s cleaner, easier and less bulky to handle, and it’s made from recycled dust from managed renewable conifer timber, not from irreplaceable slow-growing deciduous trees such as oak, ash and beech.
Comparative Performance | Hotmax Fuel Logs | Seasoned Hardwood |
---|---|---|
Moisture Content % | 7 | 20-25 |
Energy Output Mj/KG | 17-18 | 9-13 |
Ash Residue % | 3 | 3-5 |
